For all of you who know me well, you know that I change my mind weekly, if not daily, about staying or leaving Europe. Well, I had basically decided this was my final year and that I would make the journey back to the states this winter. However, I have switched again. But now I have the same problem you will find in my post earlier this year.
I want to move. But I don’t want to leave Europe. I love Paris but I am getting antsy. I need a change. Therefore, we have the job-finding-visa-getting issue yet again. I was thinking maybe studying but I don’t really have an extra 15 000€ lying around and I don’t know how I feel going into further debt with student loans. But this would be the easiest way to stay abroad… (minus the whole au pair thing but I would rather move back to the states than suffer the wrath of au pair-dom again)
The problem with finding a job is the usual problem of being an American and no one wants to sponsor a visa but I also have the language issue. I speak French. Therefore other than Belgium, (in which case I would need Dutch too), I am at a loss. Although I can understand it pretty well, my spoken Spanish is at the level of a 2-year-old.
My question is why cannot I not just have an EU passport?? Please. Someone. Just make me an EU national. I want to stay and I am seriously bothered how difficult it is. It seems my blog will have the yearly theme of visa frustrations.
If anyone out there in cyberspace can lend me a hand, let me know. 🙂
